Pilates Overview
Pilates techniques of exercise for fitness and rehabilitation are a modern form of the training regimen created over 75 years ago by J.H. Pilates. The current approach taught at Mountain View Physical Therapy is a form of neuro-muscular training which utilizes specialized equipment, based on the original designs of J.H. Pilates, mat exercises and exercise with small apparatus (springs, foam rolls, and gym balls).
Our goal at Mountain View Physical Therapy is to enable our clients to improve and/or recover movement, skill and function using contemporary clinical techniques with principles of sports medicine, movement science and the mind/body principles taught by J.H. Pilates. The Pilates approach to exercise for fitness and rehabilitation focuses on whole body movement control through stabilization, mobilization, movement education and specific muscle training in order to promote normal musculoskeletal biomechanics.
